Driven by this St. Louis community’s desire for both an aesthetic and durable design, the Missouri Department of Transportation selected a duplex system, custom fence panel for ten bridges in this urban area. With exposure to a wide temperature range, high humidity, and road salts, only hot-dip galvanized steel tube, angle, and mesh would provide the long- term, maintenance-free performance required. Painting over the zinc coating delivered an appearance consistent with the surrounding community. Brite Zinc was used at welded joints and for touch-up, to give superior protection against the corrosion within the duplex system.

Sharing a location with the “Westshore Terminal” coal port, the Third Berth Expansion is subjected to some of the harshest environmental factors possible. Perched in the chilly, saltwater environment of the North Pacific shore, the container racks of the port must withstand the highly corrosive effects of rain, snow, and salty sea air. As the metallurgically bonded zinc coating protects edges and flat surfaces alike with no weak spots, seeping water will have nowhere to take hold – stopping rust and corrosion before it starts. Brite Zinc was used at welded joints and for touch-up, to give superior protection against the corrosion for the duplex system.
